Incorrect review and site removal by senior editors.

Let me start by saying that a week or so ago I used to be an editor, and I am not anymore due to some ill informed senior editors which terminated my account.

I have now noticed that quite a few relevant sites that I had submitted have all been removed completely from the DMOZ. I believe the editors that made the changes in question are a) making a broad based judgement that all sites I was associated with were affiliate sites (which is 100% wrong) b) made changes to site listings without proper review of the web sites or c) abusing their power and removing all sites which I have worked with for political/economic reasons.

My goal by posting here is not to be reinstated, but to open a dialog through private messages with a few meta editors to discuss this situation and have a look at the sites in question. The category(s) in question was a Shopping subcategory.

Thank You

It is natural that you should be disappointed and upset at losing your editor account, but the process is described in detail in the Guidelines for Editor Abuse and Removal.

Further discussion, whether in private or in this forum, is not only inappropriate, but specifically breaches the policy on confidentiality which all editors (including meta editors) are required to follow.

We wish you well in other endeavours.

I attempted to email the meta editor for the shopping category however there was an error in the email submission as follows:

Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /cgi-bin/send2.cgi.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

Please DO NOT send PMs to any meta here regarding the situation you describe. If you believe abuse has occurred, the correct action to take would be to file an abuse report using our abuse reporting form.

I do want to point out that, since editor removals require the agreement of at least five meta editors, it's safe to assume that at least five meta editors are already fully aware of the situation you describe and so the filing of an abuse report is not necessary, nor is it necessary for you to PM or email any meta editor about it.

As has been noted elsewhere in the forum, the proxy server error is common but doesn't prevent your message from getting through.
