Internal Microsite with different URL, bad idea?

I go live with a new website - <URL deleted> an Electrical Appliance Retailer in Northern Ireland, in the coming days and I'm already thinking about 2.0

I've purchased a quality URL that I plan to use as an internal microsite for additional traffic. Is this a bad idea in SEO terms?
