Hi, I am just informing that we have submitted our site 2 years ago. Moreover, the following links to the listed websites are dead and they do not provide service at all.
The directory we submitted was: Top: Business: Telecommunications: Services: Callback
<url removed>

Good work Dmoz. and directory editor <editor name removed> seems to us do not edit at all but simply there just for tick.

And dead links are:

CallPhonix
EZCalls Inc

Any feedback appriciated.

regards

To quote this section of the forum's description, Forum for discussions about the process of suggesting a site for inclusion. General discussion only, no mention of specific sites here please.

Also, we avoid mentioning individual volunteer editors by name. Some 200 odd editors can work in that category if they so wish and it's entirely unreasonable of you to single out one of them.

Within the scope of their permissions, volunteer editors work when, where and as much or as little as they like. There is no command system here to force a volunteer to work harder because we're hobbyists, building a directory for our own pleasure and we make it available free of charge to surfers and downstream data users.

What we are not is a service for website owners.

If you need any further information, this forum's FAQ will likely provide it.

What is the point of being an editor

Hi

I appriciate your work but what is the point of being an editor if you do not edit and the reason is dead links are there for almost a year. I never wrote about our site for two years. This is the only time I am suggesting you to go and have a look to those websites and delete them as people do not want to see dead links. Also, I understand that it is not a service for website owners and I am not asking you to include our site now, I am just suggesting that sometimes it takes too long. Maybe, I will not come back to this forum another two years to report that it is almost 4 years and still waiting.

Ok, my last words are review this sites on the directory

Top: Business: Telecommunications: Services: Callback

bye

I also have been waiting a long time!

That being said, I'm not sure what all the hub-bub is about.

I am not listed yet in DMOZ and I would like to be. In the mean time I did not sit around and wait to be listed. I got busy and submitted my sight to the "Yahoo" Directory, and as many search engines as I could. My site is indexed by Goggle and Yahoo and MSN and etc..

I have "PR" and an Alexa traffic rating below 600,00. Not the best, but not the worst.

I guess what I am saying is don't focus on the DMOZ directory as the main stay. Yes it carries clout and could be helpful but there is light at the end of the tunnel even if you get rejected!

My 2 cents.

Editors very well maybe editing, but just not in a particular category and edits are not always adds and deletes. If an editor does not make at least 1 edit in 4 months their account will go 'inactive' but beyond that an editor is free to choose where, how often, and what they wish to edit so long as its done with in the guidelines.

Given that you do not have access to the editing logs, it is absoutely impossible for you to state whether an editor edits, or not.

I have to wonder what it is that makes people who are dependent upon the good will of others decide that they don't like the timing and manner of that good will, and thus are compelled to spew forth gratuitous cheap shots at those who do give their time and effort to build something.

I have volunteered in the past with a community organization that feeds the homeless. Periodically, when dishing out hot meals, we would serve something that a given person did not care for. Most meal recipients were gracious, they appreciated that we cared enough to help, even if that help did not suit their tastes. Some chose to insult all of the volunteers. We tried not to personalize, and recognized that among the community we served there were issues beyond our control that made people lash out at those who were trying to help.

I guess this kind of thing happens in other types of communities as well.
