Is Re-Submission useful?

I found that I chose the wrong directory Last time, so I chose the right directory and re-submit. Is Re-Submission useful?

Any help you can offer is appreciated.

It is certainly helpful if you choose the correct category, but editors can easily send a site to a more appropriate category if necessary. We do that all the time.
However, if you have suggested your site only once, by all means suggest it again, to the correct category. One or two extra suggestions of the same site, if done for a good reason such as this, will not be seen as spamming.

That is why we can not act on such egoistic requests.

You can already make such corrections. Read the DMOZ guidelines and you can know if a site can be listed or not. But never create/change a site just to get listed in DMOZ, create a website for your (potential) visitors. That is all what matters.
Also know that when a site is notlistable according to DMOZ guidelines it is almost impossible to change that website to become listable. All other things that could be wrong are (almost) never a reason fro a site to be rejected.
