Hi,

I submitted a website called 'Freakfish Surf Shop' in the category listed below several months ago. Two months after i submitted i applied for a status check, but it seemed that my website was offline when it was reviewed. I was then told by one of the editors on this forum to try submitting it again, so i did.

It seems that this category hasnt been updated since Wednesday, December 22, 2004?

I can not see a contact name for this category, is there an editor for it?

I am desperate to get in the ODP as i am a internet sole trader and my business would do much better than it is now if i were to be included in the ODP.

I'm very sure that my website hasnt been disqualified, as it is very good and conforms to all the ODP rules.

Please can you help a desperate person?

Best regards,

Adam

I know I'm being picky, but in fact all categories have editors, many of them, even if no name appears. The real question is "Is ane of the editors for this category actively editing and reviewing sites there?" - and it appears that no one is.

Now that can change at any point in time, either one of the many existing editors decides to work there, or a new editor applies specifically to concentrate on that category. But neither of those actions is predictable, and since the ODP is totally volunteer and self-starting, no one can push an editor to work there. So I'm sorry to tell you that ther is no way to tell when anyone will review any site [including yours]

I guarantee it will make no significant change in your business.

Thanks for the reply, it is most welcome!

I feel that the ODP will benifit my business due to having more one way links to my website and people being able to find my site through it. This will make my website higher ranking in the search engines. All my competitors are listed and they rank highly.

Thanks again

Bizarrely - Seismik Web Design (who designed that website) is run by one of my younger brother's old school mates. I recognised the name of the business because I was going to help him with his accounts but never had enough time.

Even if that were true, that is purely your goal and not of the ODP. We are only interested in building a directory. It can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 years to have a site reviewed and there is no way of knowing when yours will be reviewed. :)
