I run a non profit web site about health care information for Vietnamese people in Vietnamese language. I try to get my site listed in DMOZ many times, but see no result. Is there any Vietnamese editor in DMOZ? Do you know how to get a Vietnamese site listed? Please give me advice!!! Thanks

Yes, there are Vietnamese editors in dmoz, see http://dmoz.org/World/Vietnamese/.

Use the Submission form to suggest an URL, then it´s up to the editors to review the site.

The best advice we can give you is to read the ODP Guidelines regarding submissions (We don´t give advice on individual sites here, as stated in our FAQ).

From my personal research through http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://dmoz.org, i notice that there is no new Vietnamese website has been listed since Aug 11, 2006. (No of vietnamese website remain: 798). So is there something wrong?!! Because there are hundreds of new Vietnamese website appear every day and most of them keep trying get their site listed in DMOZ.
Is it cost a lot of time to review a website or there is not enough Vietnamese editor? Can someone help me understand more about that? I have been trying to get my site listed since Jan 15, 2007, but see no result.

Well, maybe there´s not much activity in that category, but that´s nothing wrong. Editors review websites in their own pace.

If you have submitted your website it will eventually be reviewed, but we can´t predict when.

Also don't forget that the counters aren't 100% reliable. For instance I see "Tin tức (100)" on http://dmoz.org/World/Vietnamese/ , but "Tin tức (102)" on http://dmoz.org/World/Vietnamese/Tin_tức/ . The correct number of listed sites in Vietnamese is currently 777 (from an editor-only counter that is accurate).

Also, just because the number doesn't change (by much) doesn't mean that sites aren't being added and removed in roughly equal amounts, or perhaps existing listings are being updated. I'm not saying that this is necessarily the case here, but you shouldn't just rely on those numbers when making judgements.

Perhaps better is to look at the "last edited" date at the bottom of each page. This gives you the last date on which any editing action (add, delete, change) was performed in that category. (It does not mean that the whole category was reviewed on that date, or that all the public suggestions prior to that date have been either accepted or declined.) The absence of a date means that nothing has been done since our servers came back in January 2007 following the "big crash".
