Is updating of the unlisted site will slow down the review?

Hello,

More than 1,5 years ago I have submitted a site to the category World/Shopping/Tobacco/Cigarettes, and of course until now it is not listed. Now I decided to change the site description, and as far as 'Update listing' link does not work for the unlisted url, I've done it through 'Submit a site' link. Therefore I would like to ask, if the review will be delayed again because of that, and, if the answer is 'yes', how can I (or ODP) protect my site from being posted by competitors again and again daily/weekly/etc., so my site will never become listed at all.

Thanks.

The answer to the first question is "not very likely", and the answer to the second question is "we're people, not robots, and really really stupid ways of trying to manipulate us really really don't work very well."

Since nobody knows what editor will next work in a category, and nobody knows in what order any editor will review sites in, nobody really can know how to manipulate the editors to your disadvantage. Help, we accept (and a suggestion of a good site is definitely help.) Manipulation, we're pretty good at sloughing off -- as you can easily tell by noticing how many spammers in SERP perp forums hate the ODP more than anything else on the net.

If you submitted t a different category, you are in a different pool of submissions that is unrealted to your original submission.

Just as we could not predict how long it would take to get the first site reviewed, we cannot product when the newest suggestion will get looked at.

You can relax with regards to your fears that a competitor will systematically resubmit your site in order to keep you out. First, we could determine if that were happening; second, it really is not an effective strategy because we do not review sites in a serial manner, so there is no queue in the pure sense of the word.

Thank you for your answers, this is really nice.
BTW, what are 'SERP perp forums', mentioned by hutcheson?

"Search Engine Results Positioning" (or "Perverting") -- also known as SEO. "Perp" is short for "perpetrator" -- someone who does something -- especially in law enforcement circles.
