Re: Site Ignored since July '02 Please Advise

Posting your complaint in 4 forums here is not the way to get your case looked into.

Now, there could be any number of reasons why your site hasn't been listed yet. Editors are under no obligation to review sites in the order in which they were submitted so that fact that domains that were registered after yours are listed is meaningless. Nor is it a sign that the editor is abusive or incompetent. The lack of a notification from the editor is also meaningless as very few editors will email the submitters about the status of their submission.

If you would like to give us the URL and the category, we can look in the queue and see if you're still waiting there.

[edited to correct: "before yours" to "after yours"]

Re: Site Ignored since July '02 Please Advise

Please provide a clickable link to the category you submitted to, and the URL of your site, as requested in the forum guidelines.

Not once along the way have we even received a 'no'.
We usually don't contact submitters to tell them if their site has been accepted or rejected, and you shouldn't expect to get a reply to a feedback. But it will be taken into consideration if appropriate. Otherwise we would spend more time discussing with submitters than listing sites.
Anyway, you've found the right place to ask about the status of your site.

we are now 18th in Yahoo for a competitive category and the listing would help us into that elite top 10 everyone wants

We don't care about pageranking. That's search engine business. ODP is a directory and we list sites depending on their content.

Re: Site Ignored since July '02 Please Advise

One of the major purposes of this forum is so that submitters can learn from each others' experiences. Resource-Zone isn't an ODP help desk. Rather it's a resource others can use and learn from.

To that end editing out your posts after getting what you want circumvents that very purpose, while being rude to those who read the thread after you. Same goes for PM'ing an editor, unless the content of the message would be in violation of our Forum Guidelines. The other exception would be in cases where you believe abuse occured, in which case it would be appropriate to PM or send feedback to a meta editor.

In the future for general questions and inquiries, please utilize the forum as opposed to PM. That way everyone can learn from your experience. As opposed to just yourself.

Sorry. That was my bad for replying via PM. Consider my wrist suitably slapped. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />
