I have been listed in DMOZ under Music Education in Nashville for about 5 years. Recently I suggested my site for a different category (better related to the purpose of my site), but the editor rejected it for unclear reasons. So I tried 2 or 3 others, and the next thing I knew, my original listing under Education was gone!

When I try to resubmit, the security image identification malfunctions, or perhaps DMOZ is blocking my IP! I have also tried repeatedly for years to volunteer as an editor, and am met with rejection each time. I don't understand DMOZ's mentality.

Anyways, to summarize...I'm mad.

Please read our submission guidelines which forbid the submission of related websites and require that a website be suggested once to the one best category. They also outline the penalties that can be imposed should they be ignored.

You acknowledged that you'd read and agreed them on each occasion that you suggested a website.

Your related website is appropriately listed and no penalties have been applied so I'm not sure what's to be mad about.

We, however, are going to have to devote some of our scarce volunteer effort to clearing up after you.

When I try to resubmit,
There's no need so please don't.

I can't find it.

Sorry to trouble you again, but I can't locate my listing. I've tried a number of pertinent keywords and get nothing. Where did you find it?

At present the search database last updated on Oct 31, 2007, so you may not be sucessful in searching for the actual place of your website.
But you definitely should know the place when considering what your website is about (the topic) and to which place in the known locality it could have been moved, consequently... ;)

Is that all?

Well, Liszt, of course I know the subject and appropriate place. But the ODP nesting structure has so many levels and branches, it's nearly impossible to locate something when you haven't a clue where some editor may have shuffled it off to.

You could try using our search, just search for mysite.com and leave off the www. bit, :). We're a crazy bunch of rascals, no telling where it ended up at.

Refreshing honesty!

Crowbar, my URL, name and previously listed title bring up the deleted (but still cached) listing. Try it:

http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=james'+music+studio

Likewise searching for my new submission that Jim Noble says has been approved yields zero results. I've already done searches using every possible term related to my site, but as Liszt said, the index hasn't been updated yet this month!

(Fortunately, "James' Music Studio" is still found in other directories that copied DMOZ, like Google.)

Then you shouldn't be wondering. Consider what your site is about and where you are located and go look in the category that fits that content.
