What if everybody would stop posting for a month, imagine how many more sites would be able to be edited if we just left these people alone.

Mmm, you're presuming that if we weren't posting here we'd be editing. That'd be a bad presumption.

I would be presuming that you are editors or that you could be and the time that you spend reading and responding would help edit new listings. Imagine the hours spent doing this.

I imaging that you are completely wrong.

We editors actually talk among ourselves, and a healthy majority view this as a diversion from editing -- someplace to pop in and clear our minds while taking a break from editing.

It does not take away from our editing time, it supplements our editing time and makes our experience as an editor more complete.

Beside, very few active editors particpate here, when you see who actively posts.

Other editors have other diversions.

Some reportedly have lives, but that has never been independently confirmed.

Imagine how much editing we could get done if the spammers and SEO-types spent less time trying to manipulate the directory for their own personal gain.

That about sums it up. See what happens when you presume

For me personally, any time I spend here is time I would otherwise be surfing other web sites, working on other hobbies, hanging out with family and friends, cleaning, doing work I've brought home, or doing other stuff completely unrelated to the ODP.
