Hi, While trying to post in DMOZ, I encountered Internal Server Error. This is between 2.30 P.M (IST) - time. Please refer to the webmaster for rectifying this error.

Thanks and Regards

Guddu

I assume you mean the editor side. Discussion of editor issues in this forum is best done in the edito area, if zou are an editor feel free to applz for editor status in the members section.

Anyway this is a known problem related to the server upgrades.

Curious why you would assume guddu is an editor. That particular server error is also happening on the public side when someone tries to submit a site. It's not just limited to the editor side

Oh... Looks like I should try the public side more often I normally use http://ch.dmoz.org for browsing, so I didnt notice. Thought the public side normally just times out at the moment...

Yes Windharp, Donaldb is right. I was talking of a public side error only. However, it has still not been rectified and no new postings can be made to DMOZ. Do we have to wait for long. I understand DMOZ IS UNDER A HEAVY LOAD and internal server error can occur at any time, but if it is rectified in few days it would be a great support to all who have their posts held up. Please do the needful.

Thanks & Regards

The only way to rectify it would be to add more powerful hardware. This is being done over the next few months, but it isn't something that can be done instantly.

We aren't staff or staff engineers. We don't control this sort of problem or how it is handled. If it is NEVER rectified (submission problems, that is) that would be OK with me and most other editors and staff. We have perfectly good ways to find and add useful and content-rich sites on our own without any outside submissions at all. Being able to submit sites to ODP is a bonus, not a right.

I would hope it would be rectified. I found that error not only to exist in submitting URL's but also when trying to email editors.

This problem is known, both to editors (who have absolutely no control over it) and to staff, who are working on it. We are told there will NOT be a quick fix. Please do not report it again until it occurs AFTER the fix is announced. (Watch for it in these forums ... late this summer.)
