I am new to the DMOZ. Heard a lot of good and a lot of bad about it. I see went ahead and submitted my site (I won't list the url here since it is against the rules. Besides why list it when you can just put it in your profile?).

Anyway, I submitted it very soon after the submission ability was reopened. I wonder if there is a way to see if it has even been looked at or not accepted or what is going on with it?

The short answer is no. There's no way for you to see whether your site suggestion has been looked at or deleted. If it's accepted, of course, it'll show up in the Directory. :) Or a search of the Directory, leave off the www.

The best thing to do is to suggest it once, and then forget about it. Nothing you can do or say will have any affect either way.

Having an answer to either of those questions will also not help you in any way, and will only lead to more questions, that will also not affect it's status in any way.

I understand how frustrating that can be, but, that's the way it is, :) .

As far as the url in your profile goes, that won't help you either, because we won't comment on it or review it, <G>.

True enough. But it's just flat amazing (not to mention scary) how many people don't see the blindingly obvious.

Also, we're not hard hearted people on a power trip, we'd love to give you all status reports on your site suggestions, but, we've found from trying it, that it just doesn't work, so we don't do it anymore.

Well I certainly understand that. I was just wondering is all. To be honest I am like most webmasters...I want my star trek and I want it now lol. Thanks for letting me know about this guys. I will check back every so often to see if it is listed yet.

If something is not listed for whatever reason do I get an email saying the site was rejected?

The only reasons we wouldn't list a website are either that it doesn't meet the requirements spelled out in our guidelines or that it doesn't work.

You can check your site against the guidelines for yourself and you'd presumably know if it didn't work. There's thus no need for an email because it wouldn't tell you anything you didn't know already :) .
