Link Popularity

There seems to be a lot of "tutorials" and "sites" touting "Link popularity" as a key factor in getting listed and subsequent ranking. Is this a factor in DMOZ or just with "spidered" engines? Just curious.

It has no relevance at all with the ODP. We base our listings on content that the end-user will see.
