Dear Sir/Madam

We are listed in all the major Search Engines. We have a page rank in Google 6/10. We have read all the outlines and we think that we follow all the criterias. But our website floraqueen.com is not listed in dmoz.

Anybody has any idea what are we doing wrong? Thanks

Most probably you are doing nothing wrong.
If you have suggested a sites that is listable according to DMOZ guidelines (read http://dmoz.org/add.html and http://dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html ) and it is not listed yet it will be waiting for an editor to review the site. Due to the fact how DMOZ is working we can not predict when a site will be reviewed.

Hi :)

Because editors are volunteers, there is no way to predict when a review will be done. Since you have already suggested your site there is really nothing more you need to do.

It is really best to forget about your site suggestion to DMOZ and look for other methods of developing/promoting your site.

Thanks.

I'm always puzzled as to how people could possibly think Google pagerank has anything to do with whether a site is listable in the ODP or not.

Surely, ANYONE who's ever actually USED Google has noticed that many, often a majority, sometimes over 99%, of the site in Google search results are pure doorway/affiliate spammers -- and how many of the queries return exactly the same phrase from hundreds of sites indicating that only one of that set of sites actually has unique content?

I don't say this to criticize Google: it is a victim, not a perp. And Google is still generally the best of the search engines.

But the fundamental fact is, Google lists sites that are widely linked to. The ODP lists sites that have unique content. It is POSSIBLE (but hardly necessary) for a site to meet both sets of criteria.

I trust this clears up that source of confusion, and sincerely hope that nobody will ever again assume a high Google rank allows an ODP listing at all, let alone guarantees a fast ODP listing. If you ever see anyone making this assumption, please enlighten them.

If it is made by volunteers, why don't you guys approve more people to add pages to the catalog?
