Hello

Is there a way to find out if a site has been rejected ?
I have 2 companies one wholesale company that sells
to the trade. www.classicmattress.com it has been listed for
years. The other www.dormia.com a retail company never gets
picked up after multiple attempts ? Would the fact they are on the
same server matter? Dormia should be in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Furniture/Bedroom/Mattresses/

Any help would be appreciated

I would also love to volunteer to edit this catagory.

No sorry, reports on submission status being pending or rejected are not available. More information can be found in the FAQ at http://resource-zone.com/forum/faq.php?faq=odp#faq_faq_site_questions

The fact that they are on the same server is irrelevant, many sites share servers with other sites. Submitting multiple times may only be delaying the editor getting to your submission as more recent submissions will overwrite the previous one. If the editor working in that particular category happens to look at submitted sites starting at the oldest submissions you may be simply extending the time it takes them to get to yours.

Shopping categories are also some of the most spam laden in the directory and as such are also often avoided by most editors who would rather not have to deal with it. This may also sometimes contribute to any perceptual delay.

I would also love to volunteer to edit this catagory.

There is a link at the bottom of the page where you can volunteer as an editor. Be sure to carefully read the information on applying. Also note that new editors are usually advised to start in smaller cats ( 50 or less) to gain experience before moving into larger cats - especially in Shopping which can be a veritable morass.

Thanks

Thanks

Maybe I will post the site to a more regional location
that has less going on since there are stores in several states.

It can take quite a while before a listed site shows up in the search. It will eventually show up.

For a site to be listed in Shopping, it must have a way to purchase the products on-line or via a simple call. Pricing needs to be stated on the site and normally most shopping sites also include a shopping cart.

It looks like you are a manufacturer that supplies to stores (not B2C). From what I can see from your site, you do not actually own the stores that your products are sold through. This means that your site may only be listed in Topical (Business) and in Regional/Locality where your factory is located - http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_Amer...and/Localities/J/Jessup/Business_and_Economy/

I have taken the liberty of sending a copy there for you. :) FYI, we do not allow mirrors/same companies with different names listed. You will notice that your other site, http://www.classicmattress.com has been replaced with the http://dormia.com/ one.

No hijack intented, just asking something along the same line, with an added question as well and did not what to start a new thread as it was kinda on the same line. This is not a status question either as I already assume the worst and hope for the best.

I noticed gboisseau you are one of seven editors of an over all encompassing main shopping category to a sub - sub - sub category I submitted to. the Reason for the question today is about passworrds. I was reading about site's with passwords having to supply a login in for Dmoz staff.

With out a user account is it still possible to review some of the site just not all of it, if so A general account can be created for Dmoz and a password provided at dmoz's You will have to PM for the password. This will give you full roaming of everything that is seen, including the payment systems in place, SSL certificates and what not.

All customer information is availible with an account, contacts emails and so on. I Also see some thing concerning not owning any of the products, we dont do any thing other then staight classified ads.

So there is no need for shopping carts. If this is another critira to be in a shopping category.

If these question are out of line Please feel free to PM and I will delete the post.

We need to see all of it.

Very few editors visit this forum. It's much better to add login details to the end of the proposed description like this [user, pass] so that any passing editor can review the site. They won't be published, but a record will be kept internally so that the site can be re-reviewed in the future.

The site has already been submitted so how do I get you the password and user name now, I have created a user DMOZOPD the password youll have to pm for, I dont have any way of getting it to you jim because you do not take PM from non editors, I wish I had know this along time ago as I just discovered this readind and reading.

I don't personally need or want to know the password because, to all intents and purposes, I never revue websites just because they've been mentioned here. Most editors working in RZ would say the same.

Simply resuggest the site to the same category and include the login details as I suggested above. The new one will overwrite the old.

why would it not come up when searched ?

As gboisseau indicated in can take a while to show up in search. Also try looking for it without the www. That often helps.
