Listing Disappeared! www.travelchinaguide.com

It's not in DMOZ directory anymore. The site used to be listed in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/China/Travel_and_Tourism/Travel_Guides/.
I didn't do anything which could remind me of spamming the directory. :confused:I only remember that I sumbited http://www.travelchinaguide.com/picture/index.htm twice to http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/China/Maps_and_Views/Photos/, with the last submission occured on 3rd June, 2003. That will be not the reason why my home page http://www.travelchinaguide.com is deleted, I assume. Can anybody tell me that my site is not getting punished and the prospect of my relisting in the directory?

Windharp. Thanks for your response. But many of my listings are very old. I even never submited many of them myself. Could you please advise why my homepage was delisted? Is it possible for it reenter the index? I am really anxious about this.

Let's be clear here. That listing for your main URL was just one of 51 listings that your site had, including a listing you have in the parent Regional/Asia/China/Travel_and_Tourism category.

You're not likely to get a listing in that category unless one or more of your other listings are moved/merged into it. 50 listings is already way too many, IMO, given your content.

Motsa. No, my homepage listing is not in the 51 listings DMOZ now shows. Now, I can not see the listing you say in the parent Regional/Asia/China/Travel_and_Tourism. Also do you mean that I have to get the listings removed to get my homepage get listed again?

Hi, Windharp. Thanks for the link to DMOZ guidelines. However, as the guidelines indicate, deeplinking (adding more links from one site) is allowed. Also all my listings must have been approved by DMOZ staff, as the guidelines indicate. So your response of my homepage delisting is not satisfying. Do not mean to be hostile, just speaking of my thought.

Surely not. It is in the responsibility of every single editor to list a single entry. Higher Up Editors (or even Staff) will only investigate if a site is found to have a lot of deeplinks.

I didn't say it is among the 51 listings, I said it was since it obviously isn't now. Now, I'd agree with you that your site belongs most appropriately in the Travel Guides category it was removed from but that is instead of some or all of its current listings, not in addition to the listings it already has.

However, as the guidelines indicate, deeplinking (adding more links from one site) is allowed. Also all my listings must have been approved by DMOZ staff, as the guidelines indicate.
The guidelines have never indicated that staff reviews or approves of listings (though they sometimes do). Yes, the fact that you had 51 listings means that a volunteer editor (or editors) determined years ago that your site should be deeplinked. However, that doesn't happen nearly so often now with travel sites as it used to and when situations like this are discovered, the result frequently is that the dozens of deeplinks are trimmed down to a handful or less.

I notice you're sharing some material with http://www.warriortours.com/ which happens to mention travelchinaguide in its logo... a sister site?

What is the ONE category in which you would want travelguidechina.com to be listed? or is it http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/ that you really want listed?

I notice that most all of these 51 listings were put there 30 or more months ago... some as far back as early 2000. We were more tolerant of deeplinking back then to help build up the directory.

Since most (myself included) have 1 listing and -0- deeplinks... I have a feeling you're not going to find a lot of sympathy for losing one of 50+. Quit while you're ahead.

Understandable: but...your satisfaction is not our concern. Our concern is for our user's satisfaction.

Jeez,

I am patient to get my site listed once and this guy is whining about his 51st link being missing.

Give me a break bud and quit being so damn greedy.
