Lost my web site

I submitted a status request a few days ago and had syntax errors. I didn't have my category link in a linkable format. I didn't know whether to correct or resubmit so I started over. Now when i call my thread up it shows as linkable but I think the editor saw the old request when replying because he indicated I had a lot of errors.

Anyway, for some reason my site is no longer coming up when i go through AOL, Internet explorer, etc. Could anything I did in this site cause that? When I search by Google it brings up my link but I still can't access my page. Also, before my site link, it now lists 2 Public Forums from this site that I guess were created by my status requests - I don't know. I am totally confused and am feeling like I am making my situation worse at every step. I have contacted my hosting company but wondered if any else has any insight? Thanks!!!

No

This sounds feasible. Note that your site link is not actually a listing pulled up by Google. It looks like Google is not actually listing your site but is just trying to be helpful. (Yahoo does actually list you though, via your host, cisdata)

Yes it seems like your site has problems. No great issue although one wonders if the site was ever actually up.

First thing to do is enquire with your website consultant or host. Then get your site up. Then try again.

lost my site

Our site has definitely been up and working for weeks. We actively view it all the time. Last night was the first time we were not able to access.

Ask your hosting company because it looks like you have a problem. I did a quick search on whois and your site status is locked.
Ask the hosting company internic@cisdata.net

Did you paid their bill? :)

Thanks for the suggestion to check about my bill. however, that has been paid in full. I am just waiting for the host office to open so I can call them.

The "locked" status is probably a feature of the registrar. It prevents, or makes it a lot harder, for another registrar to take over the domain.

There is a problem with that registrar though. It's not resolving the domain to an IP address.

I can't find the IP also. But the company has 4 name servers and 2 don't respond.

As i said, the site was working with no problems until I checked it last night. I will try to resolve with cisdata. Google does show our site but you cannot access the page when you click on it. That again has alwasy worked in the past. With regards to my status request, would I be notified if it wasn't available when someone tried to review it. I know the rules about submitting more than once but I am worried I will be passed over if they tried to find it and couldn't. This has to have been a very short term problem though because it was working two days ago. Any advice?

lost me site

I just want to thank the editors and members that responded to my concerns. My site is back up. It was a problem with the registar that my host uses. I was not sure where to find answers and you all have been great - - and extremely patient with my concerns. Now I know where to go for questions I may have. Now that it is back up, look at my site and let me know your thoughts and suggestions. I believe you can all be my best critics.

I'm glad you got that all worked out OK. :)

Unfortunately, Resource Zone is not the place for getting your site critiqued.

Hi, contrary to the advice I gave above, you don't need to "try again". The site will be still in review and the temporary glitch shouldn't have affected that. So best to bookmark the previous thread. Hopefully the submission will be processed during the indicted six months.

DMOZ is not known for speeding inclusion. Best just to sit tight and wait. It will get in eventually. It took me 9 months to get in. :D Was worth the wait, though. Remember, everyone here is a volunteer!

Just remember inclusion is NOT guaranteed. If a site does not offer enough unique content, or is for any of the other common reasons unlistable it will not "eventually get in".

This is not a comment regarding the site in question of this thread. I do not have editing permissions in this category nor have I attempted to even visit the site itself. Just an observational note regarding the post.

If the site is functional, provides an abundance of unique content and is a listable site according to the Site Submission Guidelines then yes it will eventually be reviewed and accepted.
