Re: http://www.linknot.com/
and http://www.linknot.com/travel-photos.htm
Hi. Sorry, it's going to be a long post. I want to try to explain why I am not too happy about the listing of my site in the directory. At the same time, I feel bad because I created the situation myself...
My web site (non commercial) really is two different sites. The first one (linknot.com) is just my personal web site, and I don't think of it as very important, although I had fun with it. However, from there, I link to what I really think of as a web site of its own: linknot.com/travel-photos.htm. This site has many galleries of photos from different parts of the world, including lots of photos of Icelandic landscapes and photos of beautiful skies at sunset and sunrise. I worked very hard on this site to make it as nice as I could, choosing my most beautiful photos, and presenting them as slide shows for the enjoyment of visitors.
When I submitted the site to DMOZ, I stupidly submitted to two different categories:
http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Travel/Image_Galleries/
and
http://dmoz.org/Society/People/Personal_Homepages/Anonymous/S/
(where an editor rapidly listed the site).
When making these two submissions, I didn't remember that sites can only be listed once. If I had thought of it at that time, I certainly would not have made the second submission. However, now that the site is listed in the second category, I am afraid that it will never be in the first one, which is where I think it should be.
Is there anything I can do to undo my mistake? I don't want two listings, but it would be nice if people looking for travel photos could find my site.
I appreciate any comment. Thanks!
