Made a pig's ear with submitting - sorry!

Hello there,

Tried submitting http://www.aardvarktravel.net to http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Travel/Guides_and_Directories/ a long time back but never had any success.

In desparation, I started trying to submit various pages such as http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Poland/Travel_and_Tourism/ and others.

In hindsight, I now realise this was rather fool-hardy and seems to have earned me a reputation as a spammer (which I assure you I'm not!).

Can someone advise how I can wipe the slate clean and start afresh?

You really can't.

However, a past reputation as a spammer won't necessarily prevent a site from being listed. It is only the most egregious and contumacious spammers, or sites that couldn't be listed anyway, that get panned and nuked. (Example of the latter: you submit aardvarktravel.net, aardvark-travel.com, and fun-aardvark-tourism.co.us. Any two of those could be immediately banned forever -- the third could still be considered for a listing.

Your site wasn't listed where you submitted because it isn't a directory, and it isn't specific to any particular region.

Since it's a specialized search, submit to:
http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/Search_Engines/Specialized/

What hutcheson said. It's just a little harder to get consideration when an editor happens to review your site and looks at your history of submitting to several unrelated categories.

In any case, you are now listed in http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/Search_Engines/Specialized/ .

You guys are fast. I was still looking for the site in the hundreds of backlogged Travel Directory submittals.
