Men's Health Status

I have a question about our UK penis enlargement site at www.dash.uk.com -Dash Publishing. We used to be listed in dmoz a couple of years ago but we disappeared for some inexplicable reason. I've tried resubmitting the site about 4 or 5 times over the last year to the non-surgical penis enlargement category, leaving 2-3 month gaps inbetween submissions. I've also written to the category editor and the Men's Health editor as I was a bit concerned as to why we weren't being included. I was thinking perhaps it's related to the fact that we're in the Google directory but I'm having trouble in ascertaining whether the Google directory is one and the same as the Open Directory, or affiliated with it. If so, then why are the listing different? Could someone put me straight on this and also give me any idea as to why our site isn't being listed? Thanks for your help in this matter.

Your site is still listed in the Open Directory, but in an Adult category.

Many thanks for the prompt response.

Could I trouble you to ask why it has been moved to this category from the non-surgical penis enlargement category it was originally submitted to, and why I cannot seem to find our site if I search for "dash publishing"? This search search string will display our site in the Google Directory, where I have noticed that we are listed in the "Mature Content" category but, as I explained before, I am unclear as to the affiliation between Google and Dmoz and why a search string will yield a result in one and not the other if indeed they are the same. I apologise for all these questions, but as you can see, I am slightly puzzled at the moment!

ODP handles Adult sites differently than that search engine you mention <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> If you go to http://dmoz.org/Adult/ and enter your search string, and select 'Only in Adult' from the drop-down, you will see your site.

Re: dash publishing

As far as I can see, you originally submitted your site to http://dmoz.org/Adult/Shopping/Nonsurgical_Penis_Enhancement and it was published there in Nov 2000. I would imagine that when you were resubmitting it to http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Reproduction_and_Sexuality/Penis_Enlargement the editors there were seeing that the site was already in Adult and were asumming that it was listed appropriately. I would have assumed that.

I'm not an expert on sites listed in Adult, so maybe one of the editors in that area who frequents this forum can tell us why this site is more appropriate in the Adult section. If not, then maybe it needs to be moved to a more appropriate category.

Good, I can reply to the forum now -it must have been a software glitch!

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, that is exactly what has happened and it would be nice to find out why it was moved and if it can be moved back again.

Thanks

Re: dash publishing

I've just noticed this thread has moved to the Adult category. Should I start a new thread asking for information on why our website moved category or shall I just wait for members to respond to this thread?

Many thanks

Re: dash publishing

There has been a lot of discussion about adult shopping sites, and specifically about penis enlargement sites. The consensus we came to was that sites should be listed either in Adult/Shopping/Nonsurgical_Penis_Enhancement/, or in Shopping/Health/Reproduction_and_Sexuality/Penis_Enlargement/, depending on where their focus lies. Those sites deemed to be selling products in a prurient fashion would be listed in the Adult category, and those selling the product purely on its merits would be listed in the Shopping category.

Your site falls under the Adult classification because of the array of items that you sell. Disguised links to seperate sex toy sites, sales of vibrators for women, sales of pornographic videos, and such like all combine to give the feel of a site that is set up to titillate rater than educate.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I see your point and it is well justified within this type of business.

We are in fact a legitimate UK based non-surgical penis enlargement company, and I am sorry you think that we are selling products in a prurient way. I am not clear what you mean by disguised links. We have two links to a marital aids site and a sexual health clinic which are both affiliations, which I would class as being under the same broad subject matters as Dash Publishing, namely 'Male Sexual Health' and 'Sex' itself (which you could argue every penis enlargement website falls under as they must all deal with the male sex organ). Both links are in our main navigation drop down list box, which is used purely for space saving purposes and not a 'hiding' tactic. I cannot find the justification for deeming our site as 'Adult' based on external links, which are legitimate. In essence, are you saying Dash Publishing is selling products in a prurient way based on it's external links? Our website itself does not have any material or products I would deem as offensive or pornographic. I would also like to think that, as Webmaster for the site, it is quite informative, especially with the comparisons in the various methods and information on the history of vacuum therapy.

I suppose what I'm trying to achieve is a way to appeal and put my case forward as I'm not convinced we should be in the category we have been placed, especially when compared to existing listings in the http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Reproduction_and_Sexuality/Penis_Enlargement/ category.

Many thanks for your time.
