It is possible.

But it doesn't matter anyway.

The editor will 99.99% certainly have to rewrite the title and description anyway, whether it comes from the submitter or the webmaster.

The meta title and description are for the webmaster's use.(*)

(*) Strangely enough, webmasters never read our guidelines before designing their meta tags. NEVER! I ask you, is that fair?

But it's life.

Don't worry about errors submitting a site, either. With the best will in the world, the vast majority of submitters make multiple mistakes. We won't reject sites for that. If the title's wrong, we write it. If the description doesn't, we redescribe it. If the category's wrong, we move it. It's worth it, for good sites we otherwise might never have found.

Thanks hutcheson!

I agree "webmasters never read guidelines before designing their meta tags".

So I don't have to bother much for the meta tags, I only have to title desciption which I give on submission.

Can u suggest me a hyperlink so that while writing meta tags for my website, I will keep those standards/considerations of ODP in mind.

Hey, don't worry about that either. The ODP guidelines are to help editors serve the ODP purpose. They aren't binding on non-signatories of the Geneva Convention.

Set up your site's meta tags to serve your purposes.

Both the ODP and Google will ignore them, so no matter what you do in them, we won't hold it against you.
