Missing category

I have been searching long and hard for an existing category (UK search engines), but I cannot find it anywhere. It used to be a subcategory of:
http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Guides_and_Directories/

and still is in the Google version of the ODP:
http://directory.google.com/Top/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Guides_and_Directories/Search_Engines/

However, looking through dmoz, it doesn't appear anywhere. It doesn't look like the category has been moved either, nor have the sites been transferred to a new category.

This means that we are completely without listings for some of the UK's largest search engines, like Mirago, Lycos, Altavista, MSN and AOL (!!!). Would some kind editor take a look for me please?

The category may be gone, but the sites are not. They're just being moved to a more appropriate location. At this point I can't tell you where as this is currently under discussion.

Thanks for looking into that. Does this mean that we may have a month of the Google directory without the category?

I can't comment on what will happen on Google, but the sites should be re-listed on ODP in their new home in about a week if all goes well.

Well, the category has appeared, but it has been reduced from 23 to 12 sites! Is there something particularly wrong with the 11 search engines removed from the category? It looks like the editor has gone through and removed all of the smaller search engines. I wasn't aware of any real problems with any of the sites listed... is this a reversion to an older list, or just an overzealous editor?

The editor who did the relocation has not yet had time to re-review all of the entries. He added the "missing" links as unreviewed entries and made a note that he will process them later.

OK, thanks. I suppose that I should get around to helping out on the Open Directory instead of just keeping tabs on certain categories!

thanks again

Has the editor just moved the category and abandoned it, having done half the job? Most of the sites are still missing from the category. I don't really understand why they need to be re-reviewed; is the new editor suggesting that the original reviewer didn't do the job properly?

The last time that the editor touched the category was on the 27th October. Would someone mind prodding him/her, since it looks like he/she has forgotten that they only did half the job?

Thanks

As volunteers, people do things when they have time to fit it in. No-one will "prod" anyone into doing any work.

By prodding, I just mean remind that editor that the category is still less than half done. I imagine that for a busy editor it would be quite difficult to keep tabs on every single category that they are working on.

The longer the category is left without being finished, the less likely it is to ever get sorted. I think that if the editor had remembered that the cat needs more work, he/she would have done it by now. It has been 18 days since the last edit.

Still no movement - the category hasn't been touched for 32 days now and more than half the sites are still missing.

Am I safe in assuming that the editor responsible has forgotten about it?
