There are two web sites for organisations in Olton, Solihull, West Midlands, UK
which seem to be getting mixed up on search engines.

Sites in question are listed at: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/West_Midlands/Olton/

One is Olton Baptist Church the other is Langley School.

The church, as it happens, meet at Langley School which could possibly cause confusion. It could be that search engines are reading the entries incorrectly.

See
http://search.msn.co.uk/results.aspx?q=link:http://www.oltonbaptist.org/&FORM=QBHP

Wasn't sure what to do about this but thought I'd better mention it.
Many thanks

They're listed properly in the ODP so there's nothing we can or should do about it.

When a search engine makes up a description, it can take snippets of text from anywhere in the page described, often without rhyme or reason. In these cases the page contains information on both sites and hence the confusion.

Ah yes. If a link to an Open Directory category comes up in search results, then the description given for that that category could include text from more than one site description.

But I am not actually seeing that in the top ten results for Olton Baptist Church in the three most popular English-language search engines. The ODP category does not appear. Nor is there any confusion in descriptions.

Only if you search for the links to oltonbaptist.org do you see the Open Directory category (or rather clones of it.) You cannot expect the pages that link to a site to be described as though they were the site itself.
