Multilingual submission

Bonjour,

I've post a site on the french cat. and has been quickly added in + been in touch with the nice french editor to proceed some modifications /images/icons/smile.gif

Now, I have done the same for the english and spanish version of my site, plus I was happy to find in the english directory a more indepth category related to my site (that didn't exist on the french one).

Today, my site is listed in the english speaking cat. <Science: Environment: Water Resources>
under the french and spanish description, but not the english version. Could you explain me that? I can not see an editor to get in touch with, what shall I do?

I couldn't find any other post related to this one, so I decided to create a new one :/images/dmoz/purplegrin.gif
Thank U.
Alex

Dear Neil,

as i said I have 2 descriptions and links in french and spanish version of my site, and in appropriate categories, (please do not change that).
What confuses me is that the english title and description doesn't appear in the english cat.
The subject url is <http://www.unesco.org/water/>

Thanks for your reactivity /images/icons/smile.gif

It's ok no prob Neil /images/icons/smile.gif

but I'm not agree with you, the site is listed in 2 cat. (french and spanish). What I'm trying to say excuse "mon anglais" is illustrated here : http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=unesco%20water

You'll see that the site <http://www.unesco.org/water> is listed in 1 cat. in french <<http://www.unesco.org/water/index_fr.shtml World: Français: Sciences: Environnement>> with the good french version extension, 1 cat.in spanish as u found, but nothing in english.

Now, I have noticed the spanish one got the english extension of the site <http://www.unesco.org/water/> instead of the spanish <http://www.unesco.org/water/index_es.shtml>.

Then, can it delay the submission in the english cat?

Cheers,
Alex
nb: the number 1 result listed in the page I refere is down, or dead link.

I think I understand what you are trying to ask. The Spanish cat links to http://www.unesco.org/water/ instead of http://www.unesco.org/water/index_es.shtml and you are afraid that this has hampered the likelihood of your site being listed in the English side with the url, http://www.unesco.org/water .

Well the short answer is that it won't or rather it shouldn't, however you may want to ask for an update of the url in the Spanish side to http://www.unesco.org/water/index_es.shtml so that the English one isn't linked to. The only foreseeable problem is that we have a tendencey of shortening urls to their base element in order to avoid 404s.

If the main page has all possible languages clearly identified, sometimes we shorten the URL for the reason brownsmurf indicated. It is OK to have the same base URL listed under three different languages, as long as the user can easily find the link to the language they want. This (truncating to the base URL) actually helps out the editors because they can easily see if the site has been listed under all of the languages it should be.
