I had a law enforcement job website that was listed in the directory. It was recently removed and I wanted to make sure a competitor did not request that it be removed. I have had a competing website going around, claiming to be the website owner and asking for the links to be removed.

The was listed for years and I was just curious how I would go about finding out if the ODP decided it wasn't up to snuff or if a competitor decided to sabotage me?

I don't want to post the url as per the user guidelines, so not sure how to proceed.

I believe it was posted in this section : http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Law/Law_Enforcement/Employment/

It started with the letter C. Maybe that will help.

Thanks,

Andrew

Removal of a listing on request would be an extremely rare occurence. While I have been with ODP I have never known this to occur.

There are several reasons a listing may disappear. The following are in order of most likely:

1) The site was unavailable or showing an error when visited by a Quality Control function and was delisted pending further checking.

2) Site content had changed since listing and was no longer appropriate for the category and was moved elsewhere and is awaiting review in another category

3) Site content had changed since listing and was no longer guideline compliant and was removed.

4) Guidelines have changed since the site was listed and it was no longer guideline compliant and was removed.

5) Site was not guideline compliant but was listed erroneously and was subsequently removed.
