Hi there,
Just noticed that yesterday someone from editors.dmoz.org visited my site. Does that mean that I will be listed shortly after that. I have nearly 23 pages and 7 pages were visited. Wish I knew which ones.
Just in case someone wants to let me know, <url removed>
thanks for all the hardwork
although frustrated I really appreciate the hardwork gang
best of luck you all

That you saw a hit from dmoz.org to your site doesn't necessarily mean that it was an editor reviewing the site; if it was, and if that review resulted in a decision to list it, your site should be visible in the category as soon as the public server updates.

As for the URLs you mention in your post, I haven't reviewed the sites but from a quick look I can't see any obvious problem with them. They both represent businesses and offer information about the business - are there other sites for the same businesses already listed?

i am not suggesting that there are other sites for the same business listed. just that i tried to be so much better than them and beside a commercial value of having a site with business info i tired to give information regarding products that i sell as well. useful info for clients.
thanks nea
good night

Just speaking in general terms about category. Those two businesses have more than one location within that county, so they would be placed at that county level.

If a business only has one brick & mortar location, they would be placed in the locality they're actually located in, not at county level. Site suggestions that are misplaced, are moved to the correct category.

As a Regional editor, if I start sorting sites to their proper categories, that's all I do right then, because there are a lot of them. I won't list them, I'll only move them, so it's very important to suggest a site to the proper category if you'd like to help us, as we spend a great deal of our time having to do that. :)

Also, it doesn't matter what level a site is listed at, locality, county, metro, region, or state the search engines will still find you, and if a web surfer looks in our Directory, guess what? , they're going to look in their locality, not at County level :D .

Being listed higher doesn't give you more exposure across a wider area, or more status or importance.;)

We don't normally list by service area in Regional, we list by location/locations. Your service area is something you'd want to explain in great detail on your website. :)

I personally think being listed at the locality level gives you an advantage, as that's where most sites are listed :D .

As a local business myself, I usually figure my customer base as being within a 100 mile radius, and putting the url in the phone book ads covers that nicely. (a little off topic comment, so pardon the interruption)

For our purposes, in organizing sites in the Directory, it's by location and/or by Topic. If you had one business location in one county, and another business location in a different county, we would list you in a Region category, if both counties were within that Region. That doesn't mean that we would consider you more important than the two sites that are listed in county, the size of your business doesn't matter at all, just the locations, for sorting purposes :).

i shall try same. i was wodering if i went on to ask for the county in the regional and then being better off in the city i am located, do you think that the person listing me would make that change automatically or should i resubmit.
thanks again sir crowbar

The editors working in that area will know where to list your site, no need to resubmit, it's one of the things we automatically check, :) .
