Hi,
I submitted my site a little over a month ago and it has not yet been listed. I submitted it to the Society section, under the category Crime. It is about the JonBenet Ramsey case. The URL is: http://www.angelfire.com/ar3/jonbenet
I'd really appreciate an update! If you would like to e-mail me, you can reach me at annarough@hotmail.com
Thanks!

You will need to provide us with a clickable link to the category which you suggested the site to. This makes it dramatically easier to check. Details can be found within the "[readme]readme[/readme]" thread.

I am sorry but I am not finding any submissions of that URL in that category. There is no history to indicate that the submission has ever been touched by an editor. That means you either submitted to a different category or something went wrong with the submission process. Either way, if you truly feel that is the best category for your submission you should resubmit. Thanks.

You've started three separate threads on this same topic, please do not continue to start new threads. I've merged all three together and ask that you please bookmark the location.

Your suggestion has been received and is currently pending review. There is no need to continue to resubmit. Thanks.

As I asked you in my last post please do not continue starting new threads. I have again merged the newest thread, which totals four that have been started on this topic. It is too hard to follow a "conversation" if it takes place in multiple places and when you start a new one it makes more work for others to merge them together. Please bookmark this thread.

On 5/18 I told you it was received and is currently pending review, not that it was being reviewed. Editors are volunteer and there is no way to tell exactly when a site will be reviewed. We now offer status checks ever 6 months, so if you do not see it listed in 6 months, you are welcome to return to this same thread on or after 11/19/04 to request a new status check. Thanks.

Help!!!

Hi,
I don't mean to be rude, but I submitted my site in March (!) and it still has not been posted. I have put soooo much work into it, so it is frustrating not to know if it will ever be listed! PLEASE help me out! I asked again a few months ago, and it was "under review". I hope it does not take years before it is considered! If you have cut it without telling me please let me know now. My site is http://www.angelfire.com/ar3/jonbenet and I submitted it to the category http://dmoz.org/Society/Crime/Murder/Ramsey,_JonBenet/

THANKS!!!!

As kokopeli has asked you several times above, please do not continue starting new threads -- keep using this one. Your new thread has yet again been merged with this one. Bookmark this one and use it the next time you come back.

Also, Kokopeli told you on May 18 that it was pending review. Per our forum guidelines, you may come back to this thread after November 18 to get your status update. Thanks.

This forum is not a way to ask for a review. That's what a submittal is for.

This forum is not a way to impose a deadline on a volunteer editor. We do more, better work without having ANY such thing.

We ALWAYS reject sites without letting people know. Sometimes it's because the people never submitted, and we wouldn't know whom to contact if we wanted to. Sometimes it's because submitters don't give a valid e-mail address. Sometimes it's because so many people take it personally and get hostile and vicious -- to the point of legal and physical threats. But all the time it's because that doesn't help us build the directory. And that's what we're here to do.

Anybody, anytime, can contact any webmaster that gives contact information. If that were our purpose, why would we need an Open Directory Project? In fact, it is a serious ethical issue -- when is it even proper to mention one's status as an ODP editor when contacting a webmaster? Most of the time site feedback is offered, it's really not ethical -- it would smack of the kind of power-mongering that we so much hate, despise, and resent when webmasters do it to us.
