>>... had to change category as the original cat had no editor.

Sigh.

No, you didn't have to do that. The submittal guidelines said not to do that. It will not help the site get listed faster.

Can you tell, please, what (in your opinion) the RIGHT category is?

Hi,

The category you last submitted to has over 150 in unreviewed, so it will take an editor a while to get to it.

Since you have a physical address in England, you can submit a Regional listing to http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/London/Business_and_Economy/
Read the category description for details on exactly where to submit.

All the categories are watched by editors higher up, so there's no need to base a submission on whether a category has an editor listed.

this is the cat i originally submitted to:
http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Electrical/Lighting/Handcrafted/
date submitted: 5th febuary 2002

After waiting a few months and noticing there was no editor for that cat, i submitted to..
http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Electrical/Lighting
date submitted: 23th may 2002

Note: i am sorry for resubmitting, i now understand the guidelines more fully and realise there was no need to resubmit.

in the last post vmcknight mentioned i could try submitting to:
http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/London/Business_and_Economy/

I checked everthing out and im sure the site is best off being listed in my original cat choice:
http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Electrical/Lighting/Handcrafted/

would you suggest that i now leave everything and hope one day it gets listed ?

regards

An 'unwritten rule' is that some sites are allowed to be listed in their topical tree (Arts/Recreation/Reference etc) and also under their Regional tree - if it's appropriate.

Shopping/retail sites (especially if you have a 'physical shopfront') are normally listed in topical+regional. Editors discreation etc etc apply.

In this particular area, IIRC, the "Regional" category is @linked from the "Topical" one, so the site would be listed only once in Regional, but people browsing the directory would see it from either side.
