Need A Bit Of Help Please

Hay Guys,, My name is Ben. Im from Vancouver Island..I submited my site a while back ( months ) ago. But I am not sure in which catagory to list it. Like I am not sure anymore where I submitted it to. I will resubmit it but could an editor please, please tell me where I can list the site that is most appropriate. Parden my spelling.

Also I am seeing hits from DMOZ on my awstats. Does that mean its listed already....Can an editor PLEASE PLEASE help me with these issues. :canada2:

This really means nothing at all. As you mentioned, you have already submitted your site. We will take care of the rest. Sit back, relax and promote your site through numerous other available venues. Do not let your suggestion to DMOZ dictate your marketing strategy. If the site meets ODP guidelines, it will be listed, eventually.

You have already submitted it, and you only need to submit it once, so there is no real value in going through the exercise of trying to identify a category -- besides, we really, really don't offer that service.

Like if the site got rejected because i submitted it to the wrong catagory and all that......how would i know that I suck? :cry:

Greeeny, we list sites that aren't suggested to ANY category. We find the sites, FIND the category, write the descriptions. That's what we do. We like doing it, too, or we wouldn't BE doing it.

Suppose you help us find a site, but don't give much help finding the category. No problem, we know how to do that part! We'll find the category, if the site's worth listing. And if it is a good site, then suggesting it is a help for which we'll eventually be grateful. So what if you gave less help than was theoretically possible? Who on earth EVER gives all the help they could theoretically give? Not a problem, man, really.

hutcheson has already addressed your wrong category quandary. I can not imagine an ODP editor will ever be this rude and discourteous to tell you that you suck. Whether a site will be listed or not solely depends on the content it contains and the usability to ODP users.

Sometimes I think DMOZ is worse than a big government agency. Customer support is bad to non-existent, nobody can give you a straight answer, and if you show any displeasure about it you get the "what nerve you have!" response. It is a sad reality for far too many.

Obviously he never read my thread about my questions which were answered in record time about my site....and what a help the editors were.

Well, when someone hijacks a perfectly good thread to trash us, we often consider the source.

You valliant effort at sucking up is noted.

However, I might gently suggest that it might be a more productive use of your time to review our publicly-available editing guidelines so that you can better understand that types of sites we do or do not list, and then you can self-judge the probability of receiving a listing.

No, since that could not happen without a review of your site. Posting here will never have any accelerant or decellerant effect on when an editor will happen across your site, since most editors never see this forum.

It is only a gentle hint as to how you could better spend your time.

Review the FAQ - if you meet the guidelines, improve your site and move on.

If you do not meet the guidelines, improve your site and move on - you have already made the suggestion which is the only thing you can do.
