Need Advice on Application

Hello,

I am very interested in becoming an editor and was looking for some advice. I am interested in applying for a subcategory under the Dog main category. I recently applied to the category http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Pets/Dogs/Breeds/Herding_Group/Australian_Shepherd/Chats_and_Forums/ with my username doggroups and was rejected.

I am wondering if it has to do with the sample sites I listed. Since it is under the Chats and Forums directory I thought some of the popular Yahoo Groups I know of would be good sample sites. Below are the three sites I suggested which all are specifically focused on the Australian Shepherds breed.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AgilityAussies/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Aussie_Plus/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/australianshepherdjudges/

Would listing all three sample sites as Yahoo Group sites cause my application to be rejected or would it be to another reason (i.e. standard spelling, grammer etc... response that comes in the email)?

Thank you in advance for your help. I really want to improve my application and look forward to eventually becoming an editor in a category I am passionate about.

It's almost impossible to speculate about why the application might have been rejected. And as you may be aware we don't keep rejected applications on file so there is no way to look at each case. But if you suspect that the reason was because of the types of sites that you have listed, then I would suggest finding a broader range of sites for the examples.

Also, I would maybe suggest trying one of the other subcategories under Australian Shepherd. If you can't find a lot of good examples for the Chats and Forums sub-category, then you might end up with very little to do once you are accepted as an editor and it's even harder to apply for a second category once you are inside <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

I also notice that the Australian Shepherd category does have an active editor already, so it might just be a case of us not really needing someone in the sub-categories for an area that is adequately covered.

Thank you for your help donaldb. I am going to try to find a wider variety of sites and apply to a different category.
