I submitted my site <url removed> about a month ago. Are we suppose to get comfirmation if a site is accepted?

I assume my site was accepted because it is searchable (or does dmoz has nothing to do with it?). But I wanted to edit the url and when I check on the listing, it's not there on dmoz listing. I'm not 100% sure but I most likelyy submitted the link under: Games/ computer games/ Simulation/ The sims 2/modification and add on

So how do I check if my site is accepted?

The confirmation screen you received when you suggested the site is likely the only communication you will ever receive from us.

Check the category where you suggested it and see if it appears, or go to Google's search engine and do a restricted search for that URL within dmoz.org. That will help in the event it ends up being added to a category other than where you suggested it.

Our FAQ addresses important issues such as how long it takes. It is a good read.

I have some sympathy

I have been waiting for over two years, which is very frustrating. I submitted two sites (different categories) one was "accepted" the other seems to be lost. I re-submitted about 1 year ago but still without success.

Waiting for what? Knowing that may help alleviate some the frustration. If you are waiting for a listing that is not guaranteed to occur in a specific timeframe or even at all, then you may be waiting in vain. If you are waiting for a response, that too is not forthcoming unless the site is included then the response will only be that you will see the listing in the category.

A couple of thoughts do come to mind:

  1. Were the two sites related? If so only one would be considered.
  2. If unrelated, was one of the category a typical spam magnet?
  3. Was the last re-suggestion from about a year ago, before the Crash (October) or after the recovery (December)? If it was before the crash resuggesting once won't cause any permanent harm to the suggestion and is advisable since many things were lost in the crash.

I submitted my site well over 2 years ago and have not been accepted at all, so I guess consider yourself lucky that one site got in.

Since you submitted over 2 years ago, please re-read question 3 in the post just above you. Shadow575 gives you excellent advise. If you are sure that your site is listable according to our guidelines, one resubmission wouldn't hurt, since many things got lost during the Big Crash (october - december 2006).
