Hi Folks,

I hope someone can help me out here because I'm not being listed on dmoz. I made the mistake of using addweb a few times which I believe tries to submit to dmoz every time you submit.

I have since stopped using addweb as I have been penalized by a few different websites. I think that is why I'm not listed at dmoz. I havn't used addweb for about 2 months now and I hand submitted my site to dmoz, but I'm still not getting listed.

I was just trying to get some traffic moving to my site and I think I may have ended up screwing myself by using an automated submission program.

I don't know if I have been banned or not. I haven't recieved any email saying I have been abusing submission rules and I haven't seen my site listed as abusive anywhere.

My question is how do I get back on dmoz's good side? I desperately want my site listed here. Is there anything I can do to get listed?

Oh yeah here is the website in question --> http://www.realgreen.com

You will need to do a submission status request in the submission status request forum. You will need to know what category you submitted your site to. Please make sure you read that forum's guidelines before you post so you can correctly format your request. Thanks.

That said, it does not appear that http://www.realgreen.com/ has ever been listed or otherwise processed. I cannot tell if it is awaiting review in any category, however.

I think your fears are unfounded. Duplicate submissions merely overwrite earlier submissions. Follow thehelper's advice and get a status update before assuming that you have gotten on ODP's "bad side."

Just out of interest - what about if a competitor sees your URL on the submission requests forum and then goes ahead and resubmits your website, is this controlled within the procedure?

I'm assuming it looks at IP address?

Just wondered

I think we know that could happen, and measures are taken to identify it [without any comments about what those measure are]

I have dealt with such situations. They are pretty rare, since you can't really tell whether you're helping or hurting. Most people stupid enough to try something like this, are also stupid enough to think that mass multiple submittals help a site, so they just do it on their own site.
