NetInsert web directory

Hello!
I feel a bit like coming into the lion's den when joining this interesting forum. The reason being that we are running a new type of web directory which is based on a concept which some of you may not like (the directory is highly automated with little editor intervention). It is however, very much a product of user contribution since the user defines all the data for a listing in the directory including specifying a category.

We have applied to be listed in the category for user contributed directories:

Any feedback on our submission would be greatly appreciated.

You're right, some of us probably won't like the idea, but we're not here to pass judgement on the ideas behind a site. Our job is to review it, and list it if it has useful content. You'll notice that Zeal and Hotrate are listed in that category, and they aren't favourites among many ODP editors.

Your site is number 11 of 71 waiting for review and will probably be looked at some time soonish.

any news on the NetInsert directory?

It's still there, along with everything else that was there the last time I looked. Maybe I was wrong with 'soonish', but someone will get round to it eventually.

Well, the category has been renamed to Computers/Internet/Searching/Directories/User-Contributed/ as the secondary "Directory" was redundant.

However, even after a very very brief spam clear up, the unreviewed queue quantity of that category is still quivering around the 60 site mark.

Well, it seems that your area has been undergoing some reorganization. That category no longer exists -- it appears to have been renamed http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/Directories/Volunteer-Edited/ , and somewhat changed in scope.

As a result of the changes, your site is now waiting for review in the main http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/Directories/ category. Sorry I don't have better news.
