I know Ive been submitting to the proper category. My sites are well designed... Never made it...

Do I need to become an editor? Seems unethical to me... Is this the only way to get list?...

Just tell me why? Please.

I get nothing and I wait and wait and wait.

We don't discuss specific websites here.

The usual reason why a listable website hasn't been listed is that nobody has yet volunteered to evaluate it.

Becoming an editor solely to list your own website is discouraged.

Thanks Jim... Is there any way to know if a cat has a editor? I mean in the category I really want, no offense, has some pretty terrible websites. One for example says its a free fainting goat breeder directory and when you visit the site not only is there no directory, the site is so terrible I don't know how it ever got listed... The other two are OK except the one who claims to be the "originator" of fainting goats, which is complete bull.

If a category has an editor, there is a link with the editorname at the bottom of the page. Any editor listed higher up in the tree is also able to edit the categories beneath, and there are hundreds of editors with directory-wide editing permissions without being listed.

If you want to point out bad listings it is possible to do so in the QC-thread here.

If it's this category, the listings have just been tidied up - though this might not be visible for a while if using our search engine. Editing is an interesting hobby, so if you can spare some time and feel able to work impartially, why not apply to be an editor there? :)

Cool! I was just looking and thought, hey this has changed lol. Thanks for taking the time to do that!

Well... How much time is involved in being an editor? I think Janet, the owner of the site and I could do it together if thats allowed. She knows fainting goats and I know websites. Well, I know quite a bit about fainting goats but she has years and years of experience with them. Unless thats frowned upon to have two people working to edit a cat.

If you do not mind taking a look <URLs removed> its a pretty good site imho compared to a lot that are out there... We are really just getting started and plan on adding a lot more when we have time like tutorials, videos, how tos and lots of info. I just dont know what Im doing wrong... Could it be that we just added the DM <URL removed>? I read you guys dont like redirects but we just bought <URL removed> so we could have a consistent name.

Thanks

Volunteer editors work as little or as much as they wish within the limits of their permissions. Some do a few minutes per month and others get bitten by the bug and spend several hours per day.

We don't knowingly permit shared editor accounts.

We don't accept related websites. It says so right in the Submission Guidelines which every submitter reads and acknowledges (right?). We will consider the main one in time though, just like any other website.

I still dont understand... We bought barnyardbuddies just last month. Weve used barnyardbuddys since the begining and barnyardbuddies just redirects to barnyardbuddys. They are both pointing to the exact same thing. Does this affect anything? Im pretty sure when I submitted I used barnyardbuddys... Anyway the point Im trying to make is that its all one website. Its not a "mirror" site or duplicated content. Its just two URLs pointing to the exact same website. In fact if you type in barnyardbuddies it goes to barnyardbuddys. Make sense? Probably not...We just bought barnyardbuddies because it is the proper plural spelling.

I was a bit nervous about this but Im pretty sure it doesnt violate your guidlines...

Sorry. Slipped my mind... Guess I just got overly excited to actually be communicating with DMOZ... Is there anywhere that I can just get advice? Feedback? Anything? If there is something Im doing wrong Ill do whatever it takes to fix it. I mean, I know you guys are probably insanly busy but Id give anything just to know what I gotta do to get listed...

OK. One last question and Ill leave you alone <_<. I know it says not to resuggest sites but Ive been studying your documentation and was thinking this could be where I've gone wrong. Would it be a terrible idea to try again? -or- is there any way I can review what I originally submitted?

Thanks for your time.

Since editors visit the site, ascertain which category it would be best in and move it (if it's not there already), and rewrite the titles and descriptions to meet the editing style guidelines, re-suggesting due to a placement or description error doesn't serve much purpose.
It's not terrible but often counter-productive as later suggestions overwrite earlier ones, and if the reviewing editor is sorting by date it pushes it to the bottom of the stack...

I have been submitting to appropriate categories for a year now. Many categories apply to my business and I just cannot get accepted either. My site looks good, is professional, is in good standing with google. No reason to go a year submitting maybe 10 times in different appropriate categories and NEVER have been accepted.

Indeed, but you chose to do so anyway.

By ignoring our submission guidelines, which require that you suggest your website just once to the one best category and which you've agreed around ten times, you've added to the workload of our hard pressed much maligned volunteers. I urge you to cease and desist now lest you trigger our anti-spam systems - if you haven't done so already.

I am one of those hard pressed much maligned volunteers. Have a nice day.
