I'm not sure what you mean by error message. I received this email:
Dear cathiedsquared,
You indicated on your application form that you were previously an editor. The Open Directory Project allows just one editor account per person - no matter how long it's been since you were previously an editor. Please use the editor reinstatement form at
http://www.dmoz.org/docs/en/reinstate.html to request that your previous account be reactivated. If you do not recall all the details about your previous account requested by this form, please visit the Resource Zone forum at
http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showforum=10 where meta editors will be able to help you.
Your application for a new editor account at the Open Directory Project has been rejected because we believe you already have (or had in the past) another editor account. We have a strict rule of only one account per person (see
http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/accounts.html ). If you wish to edit the directory, you will need to use your existing / previous account rather than applying for a new one.
If your account is active and you know your password, you should be able to log in at
http://www.dmoz.org/editors/ and continue editing. If you want to apply for a new category, please see the advice at
http://www.dmoz.org/newperms.html and then use the "Request to be editor for another category" link at
http://www.dmoz.org/editors/ to submit an internal new permissions request.
If you have forgotten your password, you can use the form at
http://www.dmoz.org/public/forgetpass/ to reset it. (But you need to be able to receive email sent to the address we have recorded for you.)
If you had an account previously that has now lapsed, then you need to apply for this account to be reinstated. Please use the form at
http://www.dmoz.org/reinstate.html for this. You will need to know your editorname and previous password. If you don't know either of these details, then please ask for help in the "Becoming an Editor" forum at
http://www.resource-zone.com/ . It is usually possible for us to identify your account from other information you can supply, and we can then arrange for the password to be reset.
We hope you will be back editing with us shortly.
Regards, DMOZ Team
