Hi! Please forgive me if I'm asking dumb questions here. I'm new to all this, but I've been reading and am trying to learn my way around your processes.

I did a search on google yesterday (3/11/04) and this came up in the results:

Open Directory - Arts: Online Writing: Chats and Forums: Poetry
... and personal submissions. PoetryBang - User based poetry group with PHPnuke based membership and phpBB based forum. Poetrybox.com ...
dmoz.org/Arts/Online_Writing/Chats_and_Forums/Poetry/ - 15k - Mar 10, 2004

However, when I went to the category, I didn't find a listing for my site (PoetryBang).

Does this mean there was a listing that has been deleted? If so, why? It would have been a new listing, if it was there at one time.

Also, where do I find contact info for the editor of a particular category?

Thanks for any insight you may provide! It's much appreciated! :)

It is listed in http://www.dmoz.org/Arts/Online_Writing/Chats_and_Forums/Poetry/
There is a cluster of servers which do not all update simutaneously, but they will all have the information within a week. Also try refreshing in case you are seeing a cached copy of the page.

To find an editor working in that part of the directory, just step up the tree until you see an editor listed on the bottom of the category.

Note that you are unlikely to receive a reply if you email them, if you have a query this forum is the best way to find information.

Ooops! I'm sorry. One more question...

What is the limit on the number of categories one can submit a URL to?

The submitter's guidelines say "One". If a site is listed in Online Writing, it is extremely unlikely that it will be listed elsewhere.

Okay, thank you!

I thought I'd seen that... then some of the forum conversations confused me... I didn't want to do anything to jeopardize my listing...

Thanks for the quick reply! :)

For some sites, it might be possible to be listed in a Topical (by Subject) category, and in a Regional (by Location) category as well.

Maybe that is what you are referring to. In general though, submit the base URL of the site, once to the one best category. If extra listings are useful to the directory then the editors will action that. It isn't really down to the submitter to do that.
