New site

Hi Editors,

I'm just about to submit a new site to the ODP, and I wanted to ask a few questions before doing so........

The site in question is an online brochure for a bricks and mortar business in a specific location, which will attract passing trade. Am I better off submitting specific to my local town or according to product / service?

Secondly, I notice that the two categories I consider my site elligible for currently have no editors. Will this mean I will be waiting to be reviewed until editors volunteer for these?

The reason I ask this is that my last submission took over a year and only due to a new editor in the category I submitted to assisted me in my plight did I manage to get listed.

Regarding the category for my hometown, I would be interested in editing this myself, although I am concerned that my application to edit would be viewed as a conflict of interest if I submitted my site to this category.

I'm trading in a fairly exclusive market and won't have any competition on my doorstep. Do you think this would be a good idea?

I'd appreciate any comments / thoughts

Based on your description that you have a fairly exclusive market - a submission to the topical area shouldn't be frowned upon. Also, if the address of the mortor and bricks establishment is on the site, you could submit the site to the town it's located in too.

There is no conflict of interest if you use your site in an application for the town - make sure that you declare it as one of your affliations.

Thanks for the reply, I've actually posted to my city as opposed to my town as this has an editor and only a few submissions, so I would hope that this will be reviewed quite quickly.

When that editor gets to it, s/he will likely send it along to your town's category for further evaluation anyway - ready for you to process .
