Hello. I submitted our website http://www.inthelightband.com on the Google directory under Arts -> Music -> Bands and Artists -> Tribute Bands -> Led Zeppelin about a week ago. I am wondering about the status of my submission?

You will need to read the "[readme]readme[/readme]" thread which details the requirements of a status check.

Firstly you are required to wait at least one month after the latest submission was made prior to requesting an initial status check. Secondly, when you return in just over three weeks, you will need to provide a clickable link to the category that the site was submitted to. This will need to be the DMOZ category (not Google) and the link will start http://dmoz.org/

Please bump this thread with the required information in just over 3 weeks.

Your site is waiting for review.

In addition to that topical category, you may also submit your site to the appropriate Regional category. Have a look at Regional: North America: United States: Illinois: Metro Areas: Chicago: Arts and Entertainment: Music: Bands and Artists for example. In the end your site might get listed in both categories.

Also, I am hoping for some advice on search-engine/directory submission frequency. I submit my website via a paid ($50 yearly) service with my host that sends out a detailed submission to many sites at once and provides submission confirmations. I have been doing so once every month for three months now - is this a recommended frequency for submissions?

We can only advise on ODP matters.

If your paid submission service is suggesting your site to ODP every month, we'd consider that to be spamming. Spammers cause considersable waste of resources here and we don't take kindly to them.
