Howdy guys :)

Newbie ere.

Names Matt and I have designed and launched 4 online motorcycle web sites and forums which are here for those who are interested :

<urls removed>

I tried to submit my sites to Dmoz when I first launched them in December but nothing happened, so I tried again around Feb 07 and again my urls wasnt showing up.

So this morning I try again in the hope that I can get listed, I even applied to become a Editor as I have lots of time on my hands and I am sure I could help out here, my forums are my business and I am online 10-12hrs a day (i know its sad) :)

I recall back in December that the Dmoz site was down, is this still the case ? as I am wondering why my sites have not been added ?

My submissions are very valid, I have captured the entire network of litre capacity sports bikes and I run the whole network.

I hope someone can give me some input on this please as my bi-monthly submissions dont seam to be working.

Many thanks in advance.

Matt Pike :)

Hi Matt, and welcome to Resource-Zone. Since some of your questions are asked quite frequently, they are actually answered in the forum's FAQ :)

Rather than repeating what is already said there, could I ask you to check the FAQ (linked at the top of each forum page including this one) and come back if you have unanswered questions still?

Regarding dmoz.org's being down: No, the directory was only down for a very brief time in October, the editor server was down from the end of October until mid-December, and the ability to suggest sites returned in, um, January I think.

Hiya nea.

Thanks for your reply.

Well I have just received a email denying me becoming an editor, I dont know on what grounds ? so not only can I not be an editor I cannot submit my site to Dmoz either.

I am just going to forget about Dmoz now as I cant keep wasting my time trying to become part of the database when I keep getting rejected.

Well cant say I didnt try :)

Best wishes.

Matt

DMOZ isn't wasting your time I must say. I applied for an editor 3 times and my application was rejected 2 times. Now, I'm waiting for the third one. If I get rejected, I will apply again, because being part of it is my goal.

It's a directory, you can't await they approve all of your sites. If it's something unique and useful, be sure you'll be here someday.

Well ... I have captured the entire network of litre capacity sports bikes in 4 websites with forums and there growing communities, surly thats something Dmoz would like in their directory ?

My sites are my business I am online most of the waking day and then some, I have time I could happily give to help people, I am 31 years old not some 17 year old who simply wants to promote his own site, I'm first page google ranked anyway but I wanted to be involved with Dmoz.

Offer still stands if I can help I would be happy to, but its very demoralising when after all your efforts you dont get anywhere, hence I would be happy to help others.

Good luck with your application janhvizdak I hope you make it soon.

Cheers.

Presumably you got our standard rejection letter without any additional reviewer comments. That letter lists several common reasons why an application may be denied. At least one of them will apply to you. Unless it ways otherwise, you're free to reapply. You should treat working out what the problems were with your first try (and correcting them) as a "test" that's part of the application process...

Oh and returning to the site suggestions you've been making, did you read (and follow) the bit of the instructions that says:
" http://dmoz.org/add.html " said:
Please only submit a URL to the Open Directory once. Again, multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites. Disguising your submission and submitting the same URL more than once is not permitted.
