Newbie question about kmeta / meta

I notice there are editors, editalls, catmv and meta.

I understand an editall is a "monster editor" who can access all cats and edit, a catmv can presumably move categories around (?) and a meta can do all of these functions plus add new editors.

I also see some people have a title of kmeta.

What's the deal with kmetas ? What does it mean ?

In case you weren't aware, the Kids_and_Teens area is almost a seperate part of the directory. It has different rules and standards, and different permissions levels.

As you guessed, an editall can edit anywhere in the directory. However an exception is made for the Kids_and_Teens area. An extra permission of keditall is needed to be able to edit there. Likewise a meta can exercise their powers anywhere in the directory except for Kids_and_Teens, where they need a kmeta privilege.

Your guess with catmv is correct, they have the ability to move categories around.

Meta editors can do more than just add new editors, they can also remove them and give them extra responsibilities. Think of a meta as an editor that edits other editors, adding, moving, and correcting them. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks everyone!

I'm going to read windharp's link now and get the rest of the terminology straight.

At the top of the page, here at Resource Zone, there is an FAQ link pointing to: http://www.resource-zone.com/faq_english.php?Cat= .

In that page there is an option to post the details of the member types. At present all it says is:

What are these titles about?

Everyone has a title within the forum. You will notice them below the Username in each post. Some titles are automatically assigned based on the number of posts a user has made, and some titles are assigned by the forum owner to denote official representatives of the company or other VIPs in the forums.

Here is the list of the standard titles and # of posts to achieve them:

How about posting the above details of editor types into that page, along with mentioning:

Member -- Any person, usually a member of the public, or a webmaster, who is not an ODP Editor

Just a thought.
