No confirmation e-mail

Your application will never make it past the pre-screen queue without you replying to a confirmation e-mail. Did you try to apply again? You may have to apply with a different e-mail address or wait a couple weeks until the pre-screen queue gets flushed.

And arubin is right - that category is probably too big for a new editor.

Actually, dmoz.com and dmoz.org seem to point to the exact same place:

Perhaps it is too large, however I did not even receive the confirmation e-mail. I have double checked my mail server logs. Is there no way to have the request either re-sent or flushed, I would rather continure to use the same e-mail address.
