No editor for category

I've submitted two sites to categories without an editor and the nearest editor is 4 categories away ("philc") is four categories up. Should I submit the sites to "philc" and explain that I would like them to be considered for deeper categories?

The listed editor for the Caribbean (and the editors above him) can see all the submissions and errors in that section. There are several hundred submissions and several dozen sites marked as dead, so there will probably be a wait.

Thanks for the quick response, vmcknight. So, I'm SOL. Why the bottleneck? Does this involve the "age-old" debate/complaint of not enough editors?
Is there anything you recommend other than patience. These sites are unique (independently-owned lodging), innocuous and certainly deserve an ODP listing, IMHO.

IMHO as an editor, yes. There is a solution though, apply to become an editor! /images/icons/wink.gif

This area does look like it could use a couple more people. philc edits in all of Regional, so there's a lot of competition for his attention.
