I would like to humbly request (with the upmost respect and gratitude for there time and effort) if the DMOZ Editors could please update the following category. It hasn't been looked at since April 21, 2008.

Thank you for your time.

Thank again,
Linux50

Editors don´t edit based on requests here. A "last update"-date of April 2008 doesn´t seem to be an issue to me.

If you have any specific Quality Control-issues you may post them in the QC-thread here and we will look into it.

Mr. Editor,

It's now June 4, going onto two months since the last update. Is there an editor in that category? Can someone please help.

There are about 200 volunteers who can edit in that category when they choose to do so, but because editing is a hobby, there is no timetable for when this might happen. :)

Editors have a huge impact on ones economical well being. I only wish they would take that into consideration when reading this thread and even when applying for the position of Category Editors.

No, we completely reject that hypothesis.

We are hobbyists building a directory becasuse that is what we enjoy doing.

The fact that we are not updating your pet category on a timeline that suits you is not a quality control issue...it is a perception issue on your part.

Your economic well-being depends upon your ability to produce a website that will drive business, and your ability to promote that website through advertising, word-of-mouth, and optimization techniques. A link from ODP is an insignificant part of that formula.

Harsh but true.

DMOZ is not a listing service and for the editors its a hobby. A time frame is irrelevant as editors are free to work in any category they have permissions in, whenever they are interested. So my perception of a suitable timeframe would be, whenever someone becomes interested in the topic again.

Thank you for explaining that. Im sure you can imagine how helpless I feel being at the mercy of an editor whom at his/her leisure may or may not edit a particular category.:(

Thanks again for your time.

Then you have the option to become the editor for the category neon, just below the category you are interested in, then once up to speed apply for the larger category. Then updates would be up to you to maintain.

I fail to see how you are at the 'mercy' of anyone. Its just a link, its not a magic bullet that causes bags of money to fall from the sky. Its no more relevant than any other quality link you can get. In the eyes of many, many 'experts' its not important at all. The facts I have seen support that theory. Many sites that have never been listed in DMOZ rank very highly in SERPs, and many listed ones do very poorly. Its all about the promotional strategies - A good strategy pays off, relying on DMOZ to pay the bills fails every time.
