Hello...

I have submited my medical alert site for inclusion in the directory over the past 2 years with resubmission after 8-9 months. I am still unable to be listed.

The latest submission was of www.medmonitoring.com in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Emergency_and_Safety/Medical_Alert_Systems/

Is a 1-2 year wait normal? I have not even been able to get my main site (www.alarmtech.org) listed with regular resubmissions.

I get high listings on yahoo and msn, but several search engines use DMOZ for their listings and would like to be listed on those engines short of sponsored links...

Thanx....

This forum's FAQ addresses your general question about elapsed times before an editor processes a listing suggestion.

Jim,

Tried for 2 years to try to get my 1 main site included (up to the end of last year).

As many related sites as I have for security, none are in the directory that I know of...

Just trying to get my 2 main sites (1 For Medical alert and 1 for GPS) in the directory. I am not submitting mirrors of my sites to the directory only 1 specialized site for the product/resource.

We will not list sites from the same company / person that are about related subjects. These 2 sites are clearly related to each other and to some other sites.
We will also only list sites with unique content.

You can read the submittal policy for what happens when you're persistent about "trying" to get more than one "related" site listed. (Note that the only relevant relationship between commercial sites is that they're all about the goods and services provided by the same company.)

What you are doing is perfectly understandable to us: I trust what we do to protect editors from your spam, and why we do it, will be equally understandable to you.

There is nothing to "try" - the guidelines say to submit the one best site to one cateogry, and as for "getting" "included", that happens as and when an editor decides to work on the relevant category - and sees your site as adding something to the category.

There is nothing that you can do to "get included". All you can do is leave ONE suggestion in the pile and hope for the best. Repeated suggestions, and suggestions of related sites always look like someone "trying" too hard, and the extra work they cause us usually invokes one or more of the mechanisms designed to protect editors from persistant and repeated "trys".
