About four weeks ago, I submitted an application to edit Society:people: Missing People:Locator Services. No acknowlegement of my application has been received to date.
Your response is awaited with bated breath
Thank you

No acknowlegement of my application has been received to date.
I take that to mean that you didn't receive or respond to our automated email address confirmation message that would have been sent to you shortly after your application was received. Until we receive such a response, an application dooesn't go in the pile awaiting human evaluation.

You might want to check out your spam filter and try again.

Hello Jim
I have resubmitted my application, to be advised that it cannot be accepted while an application is still awaiting approval.
Would you advise how long I should wait for my application to be processed please.

Hello Jim,I'm wondering how long it takes to get a response to this post, hopefully not as long as the wait for a response to my application.Do you guys really want editors, or are you happy watching the directory getting clogged up with months and months of submissions that can't be processed because theres no editors

Reviewing submissions is only a minor part of an editor's job. Editors spend more time finding web sites for inclusion themselves rather than relying on submissions which apparently tend to be rubbish most of the time.

I'm not an editor so I don't know for sure, but thats what I've read here.

I'm curious:

are you happy watching the directory getting clogged up with months and months of submissions that can't be processed because theres no editors

If you really think that is possible, why would you want to be associated with the directory?

Spectregunner please post something constructive

Thank you for your post Spectregunner, i know that certain categories are clogged up and theres no editor to do the work, I've had a site awaiting review for nearly a year.
The category I want to edit hasn't had a new site added ever since I've had an interest in it.
If you can't guess why I want to edit, to help bring the directory up to date with all the new sites proliferating daily and not being considered, I cant help but wonder how you became an editor.
Some useful, informative comments would be preferable to the pompous one you posted

OK, here goes:

-- bitching about how long it takes someone to response to a post here is less beneficial than, say, politely bumping the thread (threads do get missed occassionally).

-- posting gripes and sarcasm about the directory and the people who run it when you're asking to be accepted as an editor is likely going to get people wondering why you would even want to be an editor.

-- finally, there is no outstanding application for Society/People/Missing_People/Locator_Services so presumably you've been rejected.
