Which category would be for this to web sites...

Hello!

I am trying to add my two webpages (sorry for links: <that's OK, we remove them anyway>) to DMOZ directory, but with no success.

I was wondering if you could show me in which category I have to add this two links to be approved.

Sopi Ltd (<url removed>) is a distributer company and company which produces plastic caps, moulds, etc (all over the world)

Slo-DJ (<url removed>) is one of the most visited web portal for DJing and clubbing. (Slovenia, EU)

Regards, Peter

You suggest a site in what you think is the best category based on the language and subject of the site. Of we think there is another category which would be better for the site we will move it to that category, but this will result in a longer time before your site will be reviewed. So choose as good as possible.

For all other questions please read our FAQ.

Hi -

For Sopi Ltd, the first category is easy :)
You have a bricks and mortar location so go to Regional/Europe/Slovenia/ and go down the categories until you find your town and add the site to the appropriate business sub-category if there is one (else the town category).

The second (topical) category is harder to help with - the difficulty is that you know your business and we do not. The following is an example of how to do it.

As a Business obviously you can start in the business category and search in that for (say) 'packaging' which gave me a set of category results from which I looked at Business: Industrial Goods and Services: Packaging. This has a sub-category Wholesale and Distribution which might apply to you as you are a distributor.

I do not know if this is this the best category for you but you can look at the sites to see if they are similar to yours. Otherwise repeat the steps with a better term (or see if someone gives you a better answer :) ).

As for DJing and clubbing, if it is only covering Slovenia then it would probably be under Regional/Europe/Slovenia/, so search for DJ or club to find a likely spot.

First of all I don't understand why Regional/Europe/Slovenia/ if company Sopi Ltd allready has an office in Slovenia, in Kenia and soon they will have an office in Egypt and in few other countries (it grows very fast).

Business: Industrial Goods and Services: Packaging

This one is the best solution, I think... Isn't it?

-------

For Slo-dj I am asking because it covers clubbing and DJs from all the Balkan (Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, BIH), Slovenia (the most), Italy, Austria and all the biggest events all over the Europe.

It is in Slovenian language and in English...

Regional/Europe/Slovenia/

Really the best sollution?

I was guessing from your post that you were just based in Slovenia. Sometimes you are allowed a listing under regional for your head office (not always) and one in business. If you are worldwide, then the Business area is best.

If you think your company is suited there than yes - an editor will review it and move it to the right category if they don't agree - however you did say your company was a distributor though...

Ok then search under Regional/Europe/ - you decide the area the website covers, find a term that describes it and use the search function to see what categories there are. Then look at the categories to choose the best one.

Bonus!
It is in Slovenian language and in English
You can also suggest it to a category in World/Slovensko/ - it may be more difficult to find an exact match as there are less categories here. One way is to look at the english category you choose for 'This category in other languages:' and see if Slovenian is there. If not, go up a category and repeat until you find a link to Slovenian and check that out.

As the site is not working, :( you have plenty of time to find the best categories that you can ready for when :) it returns.

And remember that we evaluate sites on what is actually on the site and by what is actually up and running. So if you have offices in countries A, B, C and D, but only mention on the site that you have offices in A and B, we evalute for A and B. And if you mention on the site that you will soon have offices in E and F, we don't consider those countries either, since they aren't running.

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate your work.

I have one more question... :)

Is it possible that editor does not add the page in the directory at all ? Are there some things on my two sites which could be contestable?

Sorry, but we can't do site reviews here at R-Z.
You can check which sites we do not list in our guidelines

...and remember that since all our editors are volunteers and we get a lot of sites suggested to us, we can't offer any time scale for the review and listing of those suggested sites. So you could be in for quite a wait. A year or more is not uncommon, I'm afraid.

The directory is very large and it is difficult for any editor to understand every category. I edit in folk dancing and so know little about Business, for example. If you read the guidelines and look at your sites critically, you should get an idea of what we are after. The descriptions for the category will help. If you compare your site to those that are listed, be careful as sometimes a site that is listed may be old and not meet the guidelines any more.

It is not ever the things on a site that are contestable, that would cause the reviewer to reject it. It is the absense of things that are uncontestable, that would keep the reviewer from being able to list it.
