Wondered if you guys had seen the nofollow tag initiative by the major search engines? It prevents PR value being passed from links.

Will DMOZ be implementing this feature on all links? Would certainly stop the SEOs spamming the directory.

(1) Yes.

(2) Highly doubtful. Remember that most ODP-derived PR is passed by links from licensees (notably Google, Alexa, AOL.) And Google (like anyone else) is welcome to make whatever they can of the ODP.

Paws, I understand your reasoning, but just like hutcheson I think it's highly doubtful that this will be implemented. It's not only that we can't control what our licensees, search engines and others do with our data, and that PR is not something that we take into consideration, but why should we tag our links, which have been manually reviewed and therefore are supposed to lead to relevant and useful sites, as potential spam? To me this sounds counterproductive, even if your intentions are good. :2cents:

But thanks for the suggestion. :)
