I feel that it is almost futile to post here but I feel obligated to do so because I refuse to give up. I've read through so many of the posts here regarding not being listed and while there seems to be no answer to this issue here I am venting with everyone else. My site should have not been rejected because it meets all requiremetns and standards. I will admit to submitting more than once over the 6 years but only because I did not know any better. I've waited patiently for at least four years now. I'm guessing that "I've done all I can do" but if there is something more I sure would like to know what that is. If someone in authority is able to PM me and help in any way I would be forever greatful!

If you have read so many posts regarding the same question you should have knwon the answers by now

> My site should have not been rejected
If you are sure that it should not be rejected than it must still be waiting review.

> "I've done all I can do" but if there is something more I sure would like to know what that is
Suggesting a website is all you can do

> If someone in authority is able to PM
We only give answers in public. Not by private PM.

Here's the boilerplate.

You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do. ODP is not primarily a free listing service for website owners and it does not attempt to process their listing suggestions within the time scales desired by them.

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

Jimnoble, thanks for the reply.

Am I correct in reading that if my site has been rejected that there is no way of finding that out? It seems that after 6 years time I should have been reviewed by now.

Thanks again for your time!

We don't decline listable websites. You can check for yourself whether or not yours is.

It seems that after 6 years time I should have been reviewed by now.
Should? Please re-read my post above about the volunteer nature of this project. Should and volunteer are mutually exclusive. There must be several hundred million websites that we haven't evaluated yet and there's no reason to believe that your one is more worthy than all the others.

Why? If your web site, like mine has never been listed chances are it never will be . Frustration over this fact is really pointless. It took me some time and several angry blog entries, to get over this fact. In the end, DMOZ is very picky about which websites make the directory list. I believe, this fact is their complete right. I may not understand why but, that is not for me to understand. DMOZ is still a very important AND élite directory to get listed into.
