The detailed answer is quite simple.

If it is in the dmoz.org category, then it is in the ODP directory.

If it is in the dmoz.org category and not the google.com category, then you need to talk with google.

Your questions about links also are Google questions.

While Google does use our data, any questions conerning how they use the data or the frequency of their updates needs to be directed to them, as we cannot responsibly speak for them.

It takes time to get listed in the Google directory, allow one to two months for changes in ODP to show up in Google.. If you were recently added to ODP, you cannot possibly be listed in the Google directroy until such time as they process that addition. We have no control of that process.

Although putting a link on your webpage to that specific category, wherein you are listed, will perhaps get you (and everyone else there) added in quickly. Assuming, that is, that you get visited often by the Googlebot.

This trick works quite well for me - at least in the Yahoo directory. I must assume, until proven otherwise, that it works here, as well.

It shouldn't be considered unethical, unless you plan to take down a dmoz.org link altogether, once you get your way. I would highly recommend that you put a link to the ODP, if they've been kind enough to include you. (I am not an editor, NOR have I been included)

I'm afraid the information you provide is incorrect - you do not understand the process.

There is no requirement to put a link to the ODP, and in this case, it would be absolutely futile.

Even if you had 10,000 links to the category, it would make no difference, if you are not in the Google directory because you are newly listed in ODP, there is nothing you can do to speed up the process, Google will add you when their schedule says it's time to update everybody.

I think what Alex is trying to do is make sure the ODP category page is spidered by Googlebot, so that the new changes are picked up.

But if I'm understanding the point correctly, I think it's like snapping your fingers to keep the mastodons away. Yeah, it seems to work, but ... ODP pages are spidered pretty often anyway. And the trick won't have any actual effect unless your page is spidered -- but if it is, then you're already on the way to being included in the Google search index anyway, whatever the ODP page has.

The ODP editors won't care whether or not you have an ODP link on the site -- we and all our users already know how to find the ODP anyway.

ODP category page is spidered by Googlebot
That could be - good point.

I was addressing getting listed in the Google directory - which was the original question

http://directory.google.com/Top/Wor...na/Viajes_y_turismo/Alojamiento/Apartamentos/

or http://google.com/Top/W.....

ADDED - I did not actually check until now but Google does think you are in it's directory - search http://www.google.com/dirhp for www.apartmentsbarcelonarent.com

I think it's partway through adding the site - since I can't see it there.

I am talking about being "spidered." If Google spiders his site before it hits the ODP directory where he is listed, it will follow the link, providing that the proper meta tag has been applied. (index, follow) Google updates info, many times, the very next day, after the page has been spidered.

I didn't say that anyone was obligated to do anything, either. I just think that it's a courteous thing to do to add the ODP link for good, if it's good enough to add to get a quicker inclusion in a SERP. There was no implication that it was going to be of any added value to him, personally. That's just my "objective" opinion. (and it's dirty to put a link to ANYONE, only to take it down after the spider visits - but if you think it's OK, who am I?)

Am I still misunderstanding, or did you misunderstand me?

Thx so much. I try to wait more time, and possible Google added my web in google-directory.

What you think about my 2. question, about backward links ??

You will have to ask Google or on any of the Webmaster forums. We don't have knowledge about this (and our forum guidelines prohibit discussions about this subject as it is not DMOZ related).
