Hi,
I've just registered today in order to submit the following URL www.lushthoughts.com . I'm just unsure which sub-category to submit under. Although there is presently only one very specific project on the site (a stereoscopic machine vision system), I'm soon going to be covering things as varied as a content management system in PHP & XML, robotics using a handyboard and Java/C++/VC++ projects.
I'm basically going to cover things with a "how-to" approach, but cant find any sub-category with a broad enough approach :-/ Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
Thanks
Dave

Submit to the best category you can find based on what is in the site now, not what you might have tomorrow. Despite the impressions you get reading this forum, not all sites wait for a review, if you get reviewed tomorrow, and the site's content does not match the category, the site might get rejected for being under construction, or will get moved, and cause delays in a final review.

And you don't have to register anywhere to submit a site, you don't submit a site here but in http://dmoz.org

But when the first page of you site says

The content is pretty minimal at the moment and the presentation is a little rough around the edges, but feel free to have a look around and post any suggestions/criticisms to...

don't even think of submitting it -- you would be wasting your time and editors time - it will be rejected on sight.

Ok, thanks a lot bobrat. I'll give it a week or two until its worthy ;-) but I'll take into consideration what you've said about submitting under the best category for the site at the time of submission.

I don't know, the project work looks pretty detailed, though perhaps it might get missed because it isn't "in your face" and the site design is quite minimalist.

I don't know how you will develop the rest of the site but I have added the project, http://www.lushthoughts.com/projects/stereo/ to http://dmoz.org/Science/Methods_and_Techniques/Imaging_Science/3D/ - it should appear listed in the next few days.

You can suggest individual articles, if they are as comprehensive as the above paper, to particular highly specialist categories. Not all deeplinks are accepted, and we normally discourage people suggesting them, but there are circumstances where they can be listed. Original articles and academic papers packed with information and not a byproduct of a site selling vacations, insurance, real estate, or prescription drugs, often fall into that group.

:) Maybe you should change the first page, so that people l:eek: k further than I did

Perhaps remove the un-bolded words and rework it

After about a month's work, on & off, I've now got the first draft of this site ready for publishing. The content is pretty minimal at the moment and the presentation is a little rough around the edges, but feel free to have a look around and post any suggestions/criticisms to

and add on the first page something like

A Stereoscopic Machine Vision System project has been added - and link from the words in blue

Thanks a lot both of you :) feel proper proud seein my little page tucked in there!
I'll take into account your advice as well bobrat, and change the front page next time I upload some. Should encorage people that don't already know me, or the site, to delve a little deeper.
